There I was, driving along, minding my on business when all at once I saw a crowd, a herd of brown camels (sorry Perl fans, the two hump Bactrian variety) munching at the side of the road opposite the IDA Business and Technology Park in Fermoy.
As you can imagine, camels don’t show up very often in Irish country towns, so I stopped and grabbed the camera.
The more prosaic version of events starts with, a circus is visiting town. The camels from the circus saw the blackthorn trees and decided “I’m having some of that”. Who knew that camels like blackthorn? When I left I could see circus workers putting up an emergency fence on that corner, which leads on to a main road. Given the gale that’s blowing right now, I’m surprised that the big top is still standing.
