Rick and Roll

Author: will | Filed under: music

At last the video evidence that a certain politician is corrupt. Click on it and you’ll get a video of Rick Astley singing “Never Going To Give You Up”. You’ve been RickRolled. Ha Ha. What a joke!… er… no. The problem with this “joke” is I happen to like the song.

Source: FlickrIn fact I remember the eighties (I’m sure I have a zimmerframe somewhere) which means I remember Mr. Astley from the first time around. In fact the gentleman himself expressed bemusement at the whole thing in an interview with the L.A. Times. “I think it’s just one of those odd things where something gets picked up and people run with it,” Astley said. “But that’s what brilliant about the Internet.”

However I do know that the whole thing has had two effects on me.

a) I want to dance a little to the song. If the Twitter Karaoke Meet-up ever takes place I know I’ll be making a fool of myself (no change there) with this song

and b) I’m looking in to spending a little money on a back-catalogue. I wonder if he gets a slice on the downloads now taking place?

Of course, I do have a weakness for other things from the eighties which also had a comeback.

take care,
Will

Temptation

Source: FotoliaFrequently I become my Mums chauffeur, both in a car and for her wheelchair. And every so often I’m tempted to make this announcement across a PA system.

Bing-bong

Could the owner of the XXX car license place number YYY please move their car immediately as it is parked across the disabled parking spaces.

To repeat, the wakner who illegally parked their car, XXX car license place number YYY, across the wheelchair parking spaces has five minutes to move it before I start smashing every window and denting every car panel with wheelchair parts.

That the XXX car license place number YYY parked across the disabled parking spaces that will be an insurance write-off if they don’t move it.

Thank you

And thanks to Johnnypez who reminded me about this.take care,
