First off the Lego based trailer for The Dot Conf in Dublin on July 22nd, I do like the very surreal schedule. Well what do you expect when there is a three eyes alien as your host.
And secondly, put together fifteen different pop hits vying for top spots this summer and you actually get a very coherent track called “Like OMG, Baby” and put together by DJ Earworm for the London based Capital FM’s Summertime Ball (and first performed at Wembley Stadium with all the acts in the video)
In case you are wondering, the track samples together
Alexandra Burke – All Night Long
Cheryl Cole – Fight For This Love
Chipmunk feat. Esmee Denters – Until You Were Gone
Dizzee Rascal – Bonkers
Ellie Goulding – Starry Eyed
Jason Derulo – In My Head
JLS – One Shot
Justin Bieber – Baby
Ke$ha – Tik Tok
Pixie Lott – Mama Do
Rihanna – Rude Boy
Scouting For Girls – This Ain’t a Love Song
Tinie Tempah – Pass Out
Usher feat. Will.I.Am – OMG
The Wanted – All Time Low
It’s that time of the year. DJ Earworm has released the “United State of Pop” for 2008.
OK, he’s only done it twice, here is a link for the first time, but it does take some effort to mix together 25 different songs and make them sound good together. Then throw in a video.
Its a lot more mellow that last year. Are things calming down, or slowing down economically?
p.s. The track list used to make the video/track is…
Flo Rida Featuring T-Pain – Low
Leona Lewis – Bleeding Love
Alicia Keys – No One
Lil Wayne Featuring Static Major – Lollipop
Timbaland Featuring OneRepublic – Apologize
Jordin Sparks Duet With Chris Brown – No Air
Sara Bareilles – Love Song
Usher Featuring Young Jeezy – Love in This Club
Chris Brown – With You
Chris Brown – Forever
Ray J & Yung Berg – Sexy Can I
Rihanna – Take a Bow
Coldplay – Viva La Vida (The base song in all this)
Katy Perry – I Kissed a Girl
T.I. – Whatever You Like
Rihanna – Disturbia
Rihanna – Don’t Stop the Music
Natasha Bedingfield – Pocketful of Sunshine
Chris Brown Featuring T-Pain – Kiss Kiss
Ne-Yo – Closer
Colbie Caillat – Bubbly
Mariah Carey – Touch My Body
Madonna Featuring Justin Timberlake – 4 Minutes
Pink – So What
Finger Eleven – Paralyzer
Go Home Productions 2008 Christmas offering.
Combines Blondie’s “Tide Is High” with Paul McCartney’s “Pipes Of Peace” / “Wonderful Christmastime” and J-Lo’s “Jenny From The Block”
I give it 24 hours before its taken down, but enjoy it while you can.

We all know that technology isn’t magic, but as Robin Blandford points out, few customers care about how it works. They just want to see things working. And if its a mash-up, then the data sources don’t matter as long as it works.
but I’m a tinkerer, and I care. I just don’t always have the time to tinker. So has anyone gotten the “Tweet-to-speech” Yahoo Pipe mash-up working. I know I’m missing something, but I can’t see what I should do with it. Do I need a grazr account to hear my tweets?
And given I mentioned mash-ups, GHP has been busy with Spliced Krispies, so here is a little memory of old Saturday mornings, with added Supremes.
Its a press release, but it might be of interest… Cork City Libraries has begun to extend the resources of the Local Music Archive. The archive will collect two copies of recordings by Cork singers, musicians, groups, choirs, quartets, bands and orchestras across all genres of music : pop, rock, indie, jazz, traditional, classical, operatic, etc., plus 2 copies of music books and scores of Cork interest. we would be grateful if any individual, musician, group or music shop would alert us to any new material by Cork artists.
In addition to new material, the Local Music Archive will retrospectively collect material by Cork artists already released in an effort to make the archive as comprehensive as possivle.
I suppose all those mobile phone videos and bootlegs of the gigs at the Cork Midsummer Festival or the Live at the Marquee event (or anyone with a bootleg of the now ledendary Nirvina concert at Sir Henry’s) should get in contact. I’m sure IMRO won’t be contacted… but I haven’t asked. You might want to.
I’ve girded myself up to spray another spurt of text across the net again. I sort of have to get in the habit of posting more often, but …
I’ll do a Barcamp report shortly, but I’ve been looking at my own blog, and there will be changes soon.
For those of you visiting (as opposed to RSS reading) you’ll see a long blogroll of bands on the Left hand side. It’s going to go away soon.
I’ve been using the wonders of “MyBlogLog” to see that, with the exceptions of Snow Patrol and The Frames those links go largely ignored.
Which makes sense since it’s been a long time since I’ve blogged about music and gigs.
So I’ll offer this… a shared google calendar of Cork Gigs. If you have any gigs or events you would like to see included, just e-mail me the details with “GIG” in the title so the spam filter doesn’t eat it up.
I’m surprised that various venues don’t offer their own shared calendar of events.
And typing of Snow Patrol… (and the frequent search for “john marr – toxic rhythm” which lands on the blog due the mashup and Bootie weakness I have) I’ll thank Rick O’Shea for this mashup… (I’ll give it a week before YouTube take it down).
